It was a pleasure to welcome Eric Delannoy as part of our first conference of Foreign Trade Advisors of France. This meeting allowed us to explore the themes of war and economic intelligence, components that are both integral to the globalization process, but also to the activities of each company.
In the introduction, the students of the GEAI Master's degree presented a comparative analysis of recent M&A transactions, in particular the one involving Technip and FMC Technologies. This presentation acted as a transition to the main case of this conference.
Through the prism of the Alstom-General Electric case, Mr. Delannoy raised the curtain on an example of aggressive mergers and acquisitions. If the quest for growth through the synergy of costs and revenues is the main motivation for these industrial movements, the Alstom case goes further and may represent an example of economic warfare. U.S. extraterritorial regulations weaken a prey that can then be redeemed.
The Alstom-General Electric affair was also an opportunity for Mr Delannoy to make us aware of the principle of compliance. In this context, and thanks to his experience at Thales, Mr. Delannoy was able to share with us some examples of good practices to follow in our future careers.
We warmly thank Eric Delannoy for his vision and expertise shared during this enriching conference.
